Maintain Web Design System Components

Our in-house design system powers every public-facing website we own, and I need a front-end specialist who can keep it healthy, extensible, and easy for product squads to consume. Your focus will be the web layer: refining and expanding a library of reusable buttons, form elements, and supporting patterns, all surfaced as composable React components with well-structured design tokens behind them.

You will audit the current component catalogue, identify gaps or inconsistencies, then deliver clean, accessible code that slots straight into our React pipeline. Documentation is as critical as the code itself, so every update must ship with live examples, usage guidelines, and clear contribution rules to stop repeat work across teams. While React is our main stack, the tokens and SCSS architecture you create should stay framework-agnostic enough that other teams could wire them into alternate front-end setups later on.

Key deliverables
• Updated and newly built React components for buttons, forms, and related states
• A strengthened token system (colors, spacing, typography) stored in a single source of truth
• Component-level Storybook stories with WCAG-compliant accessibility notes
• Versioned changelog and migration guide to help developers adopt new releases

Acceptance criteria
– All components render consistently in latest Chrome, Firefox, and Safari without regressions in our CI visual tests
– Unit and snapshot tests cover at least 90 % of new code paths
– Storybook builds error-free and passes axe-core accessibility scans
– Documentation is merged alongside code and reviewed by at least one designer and one engineer
