China Renewable Energy Sourcing Consultant

Sourcing consultant based in China — Mandarin essential, English required

Location and language first: you must be based in China and speak Mandarin. This is supplier development inside China — Chinese factories, Chinese suppliers, daily phone calls in Mandarin with factory managers. If you are not in China this will not work, however good your English is.

The client is a European buyer building renewable energy equipment (solar, wind, hydro, geothermal, hydrogen fuel cells for automotive). You would source the electronics that go into that equipment.

Your work:
1. Develop and screen suppliers for renewable energy components, PCB, electronic parts, electrical assemblies and automotive components
2. Compare and negotiate price, lead time and MOQ; deliver quotations the buyer can actually compare
3. Follow up sampling, mass production, shipment and customs documents
4. Visit factories on site when capacity or quality needs verifying

Requirements:
1. Based in China, Mandarin fluent — non-negotiable
2. English good enough to hold a meeting with a European client, on video or in person. Do not bid if this is borderline.
3. Engineering background, or 3+ years of technical sourcing (5-10 years preferred)
4. Component-level experience. We buy parts, not finished products. If you have only traded whole goods or run ODM projects, this is not the right fit.
5. Able to travel. The buyer operates in Ho Chi Minh City, Bangkok and Jakarta, plus Europe for meetings.

Nice to have: French, German or Italian; solar, wind, hydro, storage or hydrogen background; supplier coverage in Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia or India.

How we work: project-based, paid per project, not full-time, no office. First assignment is small and paid — three suppliers, one written report in English. If it works it continues for years.
