CNC-Ready Aluminum Compression Mold Design

Job Title: 3D CAD Designer Needed – CNC-Ready Aluminum Compression Molds / Stamps (DFM)

Project Description:

I am looking for an experienced industrial designer or CAD engineer to create high-precision, production-ready 3D models for a low-volume CNC machining run (5 units each of 3 designs).
These are not standard storage boxes; they function as heavy-duty physical compression molds/stamps. A medium element/compound (like clay) will be placed inside the base tray, and the lid will be physically stepped on to emboss/impress a 3D image into the compound. The units will be machined out of solid Aluminum 6061 and black anodized.

Project Scope & Deliverables:

• 1x Universal Base Tray: A heavy-duty, square machined compound tray with robust walls.
• 3x Unique Lids: The top exterior surface of each lid must remain completely flat to accept a footprint/weight load. The distinct 3D artwork must be modeled as a recessed impression engraved into the under-surface (interior) of the lids to act as a stamping mold:
1. A geometric/stylized hummingbird impression (Nazca line style)
2. A detailed humpback whale impression
3. A black widow spider impression (monochromatic metal relief, no resin/inlay)
• Final File Formats: High-quality, solid geometry .STEP or .IGES files.

Mechanical & Connection Requirements:

• Piston/Plunger Fit: The lid must connect via a precise stepped-lip or piston fit that slides perfectly inside the walls of the base tray to ensure it forces straight down uniformly under weight without shifting or tilting.
• Draft Angles for Release: The 3D artwork impressions must be designed with appropriate draft angles to ensure the compound/clay easily releases from the mold without sticking or tearing.
• Dimensions: Approximately 4 inches (Length) x 8 inches (Width) x 1.5 inches (Total Depth).
• Structural Integrity: Robust wall and floor thickness to withstand repeated human weight loads without flexing or warping.

Designer Requirements:

• Proven experience in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) for CNC milling and mold/stamping tool design.
• Understanding of draft angles, toolpaths, and part release mechanics.
