Industrial Product Designer Needed – Innovative Personal Care Product

I'm looking for an experienced industrial product designer to develop a new consumer personal-care product from concept to a functional, production-ready design.

The product is an innovative, long-reach back lotion applicator designed to make applying moisturiser to hard-to-reach areas easier and more convenient.

The concept combines an ergonomic extendable handle, an internal removable lotion cartridge, a push-button dispensing mechanism and a rotating application roller. When the user presses the button, lotion is dispensed onto the skin immediately ahead of the roller, allowing it to be spread evenly across the back.

Key Requirements:
- Develop an original and innovative physical product design.
- Create a functional, ergonomic and aesthetically appealing product.
- Design individual components, including the handle, removable lotion cartridge, dispensing mechanism, internal tubing, nozzle and roller assembly.
- Integrate a suitable pump mechanism to dispense lotion through the handle.
- Design a controlled lotion dispensing system positioned ahead of the roller.
- Produce detailed 3D CAD models of all individual components.
- Create a complete assembled 3D product model.
- Ensure components are designed with manufacturability and mass production in mind.
- Prepare 3D-printable files for physical prototyping.
- Provide technical drawings, exploded assembly views and manufacturing documentation.

Ideal Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in industrial design and mechanical product development.
- Strong proficiency in professional CAD software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360 or equivalent.
- Experience designing injection-moulded plastic products.
- Knowledge of liquid dispensing systems, pumps, valves and fluid delivery mechanisms.
- Experience with ergonomic consumer products and moving mechanical components.
- Ability to design products that can be realistically manufactured at scale.
- Experience preparing products for 3D printing, prototyping and mass production.

Project Objectives:

The initial objective is to develop a detailed CAD design and functional prototype that can be physically assembled and tested.

The final deliverables should include editable CAD source files, STEP files, STL files, technical engineering drawings, an exploded assembly diagram and a bill of materials.

The product will subsequently be presented to manufacturing partners for engineering review, production quotations and eventual mass production.

I'm looking for someone who can contribute engineering expertise, challenge design decisions where necessary and help turn an initial concept into a commercially viable consumer product.

Please include examples of relevant previous projects, particularly products involving liquid dispensing, mechanical assemblies, plastic injection moulding or consumer personal-care devices.
