Project Description

We are looking for an experienced hydraulic engineer to design a complete hydraulic system for a residential swimming pool and spa.

The project requires detailed hydraulic calculations, proper pipe and pump sizing, equipment selection, and complete plumbing schematics.

We need an engineer with practical experience in swimming pool hydraulic systems, not just someone who can produce CAD drawings.

Scope of Work

1. Hydraulic Engineering

Calculate required circulation flow rates for the swimming pool and spa.

Perform total dynamic head (TDH) and pipe friction-loss calculations.

Determine appropriate suction and return pipe sizes.

Calculate flow requirements for spa jets and water features.

Design infinity-edge circulation systems.

Verify system performance using pump performance curves.

2. Equipment Sizing

Select appropriate circulation pumps and variable-speed pumps.

Size pool filters and associated equipment.

Determine spa jet pump requirements.

Calculate required surge tank or catch basin capacity, if applicable.

Specify necessary valves, fittings, and hydraulic components.

3. Hydraulic Drawings

Complete swimming pool and spa hydraulic schematic.

Plumbing layout with pipe sizes and flow directions.

Pump, filter, heater, and valve connections.

Equipment room plumbing arrangement and size needed.

Clearly identified operating modes for pool, spa, and water features.

Required Deliverables

Complete hydraulic design calculations in Excel or PDF.

Pump selection with manufacturer performance curves.

Pipe sizing and friction-loss calculation report.

Pool and spa hydraulic schematic (PDF and DWG).

Equipment schedule with specifications.

Final hydraulic design documentation suitable for construction coordination.

Required Experience

Proven swimming pool and spa hydraulic engineering experience.

Strong understanding of pump curves, TDH, pipe sizing, and flow balancing.

Experience designing spa jet systems and infinity-edge pools.

Proficiency in AutoCAD and hydraulic calculation methods.
