Mechanical Fitter

The mechanic is responsible for routine preventive maintenance and troubleshooting/repair of the hydraulic systems in garbage trucks and refuse compactors, as well as maintaining accurate maintenance records. Duties include inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and servicing equipment; removing and replacing parts; adjusting and testing machinery; and cleaning hydraulic systems. Tasks also involve removing hydraulic pumps and addressing hydraulic leaks to restore normal machine operation. Routine preventive maintenance (70%) and troubleshooting/repair (30%) of garbage truck and refuse compactor hydraulic systems (no supervisory duties).
