[Gov] Artisan in Stage Work Type

An Artisan in Stage Work Type is mainly deployed on -

(a) operating stage counterweight and electrical systems such as computerised flying system and revolving stage for special effects and performing other stage operation duties under supervision;
(b) assisting in setting up, dismantling and moving furniture, stage equipment and scenery for rehearsals and performances at indoor / outdoor venues;
(c) carrying out regular inspection and maintenance to upkeep all stage equipment / facilities and related items to ensure that they are in good working condition at all times;
(d) designing, repairing, manufacturing and maintaining metalwares, woodenwares and utensils; and
(e) assisting in other theatre / stage support duties as required.

(Notes: Members of the grade –
(i) are required to work 45 hours net per week (excluding meal breaks); are subject to posting and transfer within the relevant work types and work in remote areas (including outlying islands) at the discretion of the Head of Grade/Department; and are required to wear uniform; and
(ii) may be required to perform shift duties and work irregular hours; perform outdoor duties; undergo in-service training; and supervise junior staff.)

Candidates should-
(a) have completed a full apprenticeship or approved course of training or possessed relevant work experience in theatre / stage support;
(b) be able to communicate in Cantonese / Chinese and simple English; read simple Chinese and simple English; and write simple Chinese and simple English;
(c) have passed a trade test at the appropriate level; and
(d) have a pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test.

A new appointee will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.

Hong Kong on or before 2 October 2026 with the envelope clearly marked with “For application of Artisan in Stage Work Type” (The postmark will be referred to for the submission date of the application by mail). To avoid delayed or unsuccessful delivery of applications by post, please ensure that the correct address is clearly printed or written on the envelope and sufficient postage is affixed before posting. Mail items bearing insufficient postage will not be delivered to this Department and will be returned to the sender or disposed of by the Hongkong Post, where appropriate. Applicants will bear any consequences arising from paying insufficient postage. On-line application can also be made through the Civil Service Bureau's website (https://www.csb.gov.hk). Candidates should state clearly in their applications full record of employment, apprenticeship and training and academic qualifications. Applications which are incomplete, late, not duly signed, submitted by fax / email, or not made in the prescribed form will not be considered.

For qualifications awarded by local institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority, copies of the official transcripts of studies and certificates are not required to be submitted at this stage of application. Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. They should submit all copies of their official transcripts of studies and certificates by email to ar-s-recruitment@lcsd.gov.hk on or before 9 October 2026. Candidates should mark “For application of Artisan in Stage Work Type” and quote the on-line application number on the copies of every page of supporting documents.

Candidates who are invited for selection interview will be required to produce the original copies of the official transcripts, certificates and proof of relevant working experience for verification and photocopies for record purposes. The application will be deemed unsuccessful if any applicant fails to produce the original copies of the required documents for verification.


Candidates who are selected for trade test will normally receive an invitation in about 8 to 12 weeks from the closing date for application. This period may be longer in exceptional circumstances, e.g. when a large number of applications are received or when there are other complications. Those who are not invited for trade test may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.

(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(g) Where a large number of candidates meet the specified entry requirements, the recruiting department may devise shortlisting criteria to select the better qualified candidates for further processing. In these circumstances, only shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend trade test.
(h) It is Government policy to place people with a disability in appropriate jobs wherever possible. If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend the trade test without being subject to further shortlisting. Applicants who have declared disabilities found suitable for appointment may be given an appropriate degree of preference over other applicants whose suitability for appointment is considered comparable to that of the former.
