Duties
A Part-time Senior Inspector is mainly deployed to –
(a) provide plan approval training of hull ships for Ship Inspectors and Assistant Ship Inspectors in the Plan Approval Competency Scheme;
(b) serve as mentor in the Naval Architecture Mentorship scheme;
(c) handle drawing approval matters;
(d) advise on upgrading and revisions on drawing approval standards and the work quality;
(e) assist Surveyor of Ships to communicate with ship owners and professionals on general enquiry and matters concerning drawing approval of local vessels; and
(f) discharge any other duties as and when required as assigned by seniors.
Entry Requirements
Candidates should have –
(a) a Diploma or Higher Certificate in Naval Architecture from a Hong Kong polytechnic, polytechnic university, Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education, technical institute/college, or equivalent;
(b) at least 15 years’ full-time post-qualification working experience related to naval architecture. Relevant work experience in the government or public bodies would be an advantage; and
(c) met the language proficiency requirements of “Level 2” or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent [See Note (2)].
Terms of Appointment
Successful candidate will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for 12 months.

The required supporting documents are as follows –
(a) copies of certificates and transcripts showing the subjects studied in support of the academic qualification; and
(b) copies of supporting documents of work experience showing the nature of work / positions held.
If candidates fail to provide the supporting documents as required, their applications will not be considered. Applicants must provide their e-mail addresses on the application forms. Candidates who are selected for interview will normally receive an invitation by e-mail in about six to eight weeks from the closing date for application (applicants are responsible for ensuring that the provided e-mail addresses can receive the invitations). Those who are not invited for interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.
Application Notes
(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(g) Academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions / Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. Holders of such qualifications should submit copies of their official transcripts and certificates by e-mail to the Marine Department.
