Job Description

Duties

A Contract Assistant Media Coordinator will mainly be deployed in fields of news and publicity. Responsibilities include writing, editing and translating promotional materials, disseminating information through social media and other platforms; assisting in the creation and design of contents to be used on social media platforms of LCSD; editing photos to be posted to social media platforms; producing video content; assisting in publicity activities related to the social media platforms of LCSD; and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
(Note: Appointee(s) may be required to work irregular hours including Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays.)

Entry Requirements

Candidates should have –
(a) a bachelor degree from a university in Hong Kong, or equivalent, preferably in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Translation, or other related disciplines;
(b) at least 3 years’ full-time post-graduate working experience in writing/media/news/public relations/public affairs [see Note (1)];
(c) attained Level 3 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent [see Note (2)];
(d) good knowledge in creating and designing social media content and knowledge in the application of common business software including MS Word, and good knowledge in photo editing, graphic design and video editing software are considered as an advantage; and
(e) proficiency in both written and spoken Chinese (Cantonese) and English [see Note (3)], and possessing good presentation and interpersonal skills.

Terms of Appointment

Successful candidate(s) will be appointed on one-year non-civil service contract terms.

Benefits

An end-of-contract gratuity may be granted to the appointee upon satisfactory completion of the contract with a consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, plus the Government’s contribution to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will be equal to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period. Rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), annual leave, maternity/paternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in line with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.

Applicants should apply online via the G.F. 340 Online Application System of the Civil Service Bureau (https://www.csb.gov.hk). Applications submitted by other means (including in person, by post, fax or e-mail) will not be accepted.

Candidates who are selected for interview/trade test will normally receive an invitation in about 8 to 10 weeks from the closing date for application. Longer time may be required under certain circumstances, e.g. when a large number of applications are received. Those who are not invited for interview/trade test may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.

If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend the interview/written examination without being subject to further shortlisting. Applicants who have declared disabilities found suitable for appointment may be given an appropriate degree of preference over other applicants whose suitability for appointment is considered comparable to that of the former. (g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. These applicants should submit copies of their official transcripts and certificates if they are selected for interview/trade test.
